We appreciate your continued support. <br /> <br />I am again requesting that you include a contribution to Mediation Services in your <br />2009 budget. Our request of )) cents per capita is S 420.00. <br /> <br />Mediation Services for Anoka County, a non profit organization utilizing trained and supervised <br />volunteer mediators, celebrates 21 years of providing free or low cost conflict resolution services <br />to the community. Some new developments occurred in 2008: <br />· MSAC's previous executive director retired after 20 years. <br />. To economize, no new staff was hired, but promoted within. <br />. To economize, we reduced our present leased space by 1/3. <br />. Our brochure is now available in Spanish. <br />. The court mandated Peaceful Alternatives Class we provide for 1st-time juvenile <br />offenders continues to track a non-recidivism rate of 86%. <br /> <br />Over the past 21 years the funding provided by our partnership with local government has served <br />as a foundation for support. In 1987, 73% of our funding came from local government. In 2009 <br />it is projected to represent only 17%. Over the years we have been expanding and diversifying <br />other funding sources, but fundraising goals in light of the present economy has been less than <br />expected.
