B7-4 <br /> <br />It; ,.-, " AN UPDATE OF RESOLUTION NO. 8-77 PROVIDING FOR TUE DEFERf'~ENT OF SPECIAL <br />ASSESSMENTS FOR PERSONS 65 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER FOR WHOt' IT WOULD BE A <br />HARDSHIP TO MAKE THE PAYMENTS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Cpuncil of the City of Centerv1lle is the official geverning <br />body of the City of Centerville, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes authorize the City of Centerville, upon proper <br />application, to defer the payment of special assessments against any homestead <br />property owned by a person 65 years of age or older on January 1 of the payment <br />year and for whom it would be a hardsllip to make the payments, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has detennined that the deferral of assessments should <br />be granted to any person other\'/ise qualified \/1'10 shall r:1ake proper application <br />claiming that the aJlnual principal and interest due on an assessment is in <br />excess of 5% of his current annual income and, therefore, a hardship to him. <br />The proper application form shall be provided by the City. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Centerville City Council that special <br />assessments against any homestead property owned by a person 65 years of age <br />or older for whom it would be a hardship to rnake the payment be deferred <br />subject to the aforementioned income conditions upon submission of the <br />appropriate application signed by the qualified person. <br /> <br />FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED that the right of defermmnt is automatically <br />terminated ~s provided under r4;nnesota Statutes. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that applications for deferments for a particular <br />year must be submitted by October 15 of the preceed1ng year. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of the current Minnesota Statutes relative <br />to deferred assessments for senior citizens is made a part of this resolution <br />by reference. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly made by Carol <br />Fritchie and seconded by Dick Rouischon and upon vote being taken <br />thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Carol Fritch1e, Dick Robischon, <br />W3,tfir ~~~~aop. c10td laskp, Leo~ L'Al1ier <br />an t e 01 oWlng vo ed agalnst t e same: none <br />and whereupon said resolution was adopted this 3th day at April, 1987. <br /> <br />~ <br />'- ~ 12, Y '~'^-- <br />LEON R.
