<br />The City will continue to pay the employer's portion of health <br />insurance premiums during an approved medical leave for up to six <br />(6) months. Arrangements should be made by the employee to <br />pay the employee's portion during the leave. <br /> <br />10.4 Return from Leave of Absence. <br /> <br />Employees receiving unpaid leave of absence for illness, temporary <br />disability, or child care will be returned to the original position or one of <br />similar status and salary, unless that job or position was abolished during <br />the leave, in which case, the employee will be laid off. <br /> <br />Employees receiving unpaid leave of absence in excess of sixty (60) days <br />or for reasons other than illness, temporary disability, or child care cannot <br />be guaranteed return to their original or similar position. If the original <br />position or a position of similar or lesser status and salary is available, it <br />may be offered at the discretion of the City Administrator. Employees will <br />not accrue seniority during the period(s) of unpaid leave of absence. <br /> <br />10.5 Concurrent Leave. <br /> <br />Leave taken under this Section shall run concurrently with any leave taken <br />under the Family and Medical Leave Act. <br /> <br />11 OTHER LEAVES OF ABSENCE <br /> <br />11.1 Military Leave. <br /> <br />Minnesota Statutes, Sections 192.26 and 192.261 provide that an <br />employee of a municipality which is a member of the National Guard, the <br />Naval Militia, the Officer's Reserve Corps, the Naval Reserve, the Marine <br />Corps, or any other reserve component of the military or naval forces of <br />the United States, is entitled to a leave of absence without loss of pay, <br />seniority status, efficiency rating, or benefits for the time such employee is <br />engaged in training or active service not exceeding a total of fifteen (15) <br />days in any calendar year. <br /> <br />The leave of absence is only in the event the employee returns to <br />employment immediately upon being relieved from military or naval <br />service or is prevented from returning by physical or mental disability or <br />other cause not the fault of the employee, or is required by the proper <br />authority to continue in military or naval service beyond the fifteen (15) day <br />period allowed for the paid leave of absence. <br /> <br />20 <br />
