<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the City Council of the <br />City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, <br />September 11, 1991 at the City Hall. Mayor Buckbee called the <br />meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. Present: Burgstahler, Dario. <br />Absent: Pelton, Wilharber. <br /> <br />APPEARANCES <br /> <br />Sheriff Ken Wilkinson. Anoka County Sheriff DeDartment. Annual <br />Reoort <br />Sheriff Ken Wilkinson of the Anoka County Sheriff's Department <br />appeared before the City Council to present his Annual Report to <br />the Cit.y. <br /> <br />Sheriff Wilkinson advised that the Sheriff~s Department has an <br />~A~~ll~nt working rela~ionsh1p with the Circle Pines/Lexingt.on <br />Police Department. He advised that the Circle Pines/Lexington <br />Police Department is very progressive and that Centerville should <br />be proud that they are working in their area. Sheriff Wilkinson <br />noted that the Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department currently <br />does most of the criminal investigations for Centerville. In <br />1990 the Anoka County Sheriff~s Department conducted thirteen <br />(13) criminal investigations. <br /> <br />Sheriff Wilkinson briefly updated the City Council on their <br />Sexual Assault Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit, Crime Lab Services, <br />Polygraph Services, Jail Facilities, Canine Unit, SWAT Team, Gang <br />Task Force and budget constraints. Sheriff Wilkinson advised <br />that his biggest challenge for 1992 is the budget. He said that <br />although it is not formally approved, there would be no increase <br />for 1992. However, there are demands for increase in services. <br /> <br />Mayor Buckbee thanked Sheriff Wilkinson and the Anoka County <br />Sheriff Department for the fine job with regard to their <br />participation at Trippel's Market during the recent burglary <br />at t.empt. . <br /> <br />OLD BllSINESS <br /> <br />Tower/Well Municipal Building Site <br />Council member Burgstahler noted that a five acre site south of <br />the Industrial Park would be available for a price of $50,000.00. <br />He noted that the Almendinger property was more attractive due to <br />the location. Based upon the firm land offer south of the <br />Industrial Park he felt that this was a good measure of the value <br />of available land in Centerville. <br /> <br />Motion by Burgstahler, second by Dario to authorize City Staff to <br />contact Russell Almendinger and to indicate the interest of the <br />City of Centerville in buying his 4.5 acre property south of the <br />Main Street/Shad Avenue intersection and that the offer shall be <br />$75,000.00 this is a 50% premium over the comparable site south <br />
