City of Centerville <br />City Council Work Session <br />May 21, 2008 <br />Mayor Capra stated that they would have to discuss where the rain gardens will be located in <br />other parts of the project. <br />City Engineer Statz replied that there was one west of Centerville Road, and he pointed out other <br />locations on the map. <br />Mayor Capra stated that she has concerns about the houses being lower than the road and would <br />not want to see standing water there. <br />City Engineer Statz replied that they will be fully reconstructing that and will have the <br />opportunity to move the road up or down. <br />Councilmember Lee stated that he did not feel the project is far enough along to talk about the <br />details yet. <br />City Engineer Statz reassured them that if there were a problem, they would fix it. He stated that <br />he cannot tell them how all of the issues would be resolved until they have designed the project. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that Brian Drive, at the north section of 73rd, is not in Option 1. It is <br />in Option 2, as well as original 2009, for full bituminous with R&R and drain tile. He inquired <br />whether they are figuring that in just to carry it through to the newer houses on the end, because <br />that road changes. <br />City Engineer Statz replied yes, that the road changes pretty significantly at that break. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that will have water and sewer, etc. He added that, if we make <br />changes to the overall project and go from $7.8 million down to $4 million, some of those would <br />be pulled out. The fewer people participating, the more the cost will change. <br />City Engineer Statz replied that certain streets were more difficult than others. He stated that it is <br />a pretty homogenous project. It is adollar-for-dollar trade-off -afoot-to-foot trade-off. The <br />rates probably would not change if we choose all the hardest streets to do. If we go to the $1.2 <br />million option, that might happen, but it would not be more than a 5% change in the unit prices. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that there are some yellow areas on the map for water. He wanted to <br />clarify that, basically, those are areas that don't have water and eventually should have water. <br />Mayor Capra stated that the map is not correct. The east of Center Street does not have water <br />and the map shows that it does. <br />City Administrator Larson replied that the yellow areas mean they either have a water main but <br />no service line is hooked up, or there is no water main. <br />City Engineer Statz stated that, in general, those are not currently served with water. <br />Page 3 of 14 <br />
