<br />(6) An animal control officer and/or police officer may enter upon the private property of <br />another for the purpose of removing the quarantined animal to an animal shelter when it has been <br />determined that the quarantined animal has not been maintained by the owner in a manner consistent <br />with the provisions of this section. <br />(Ord. 24, passed 10-27-1999) Penalty, see ~ 90.99 <br /> <br />~ 90.04 NONDOMESTIC ANIMALS. <br /> <br />It shall be illegal for any person to own, possess, harbor or offer for sale any nondomestic animal <br />within the city limits. An exception shall be made to this prohibition for animals specifically trained <br />for and actually providing assistance to the physically challenged and for those animals brought into <br />the city for educational purposes, as part of an operating zoo, veterinarian clinic, scientific research <br />laboratory or a licensed show or exhibition. <br />(Ord. 24, passed 10-27-1999) Penalty, see ~ 90.99 <br /> <br />~ 90.05 FARM ANIMALS. <br /> <br />Farm animals shall only be kept in an agricultural district of the city or on a residential lot of at <br />least ten acres in size, provided that no animal shelter shall be within 300 feet of an adjoining piece of <br />property. An exception shall be made to this section for those animals brought into the city as part of <br />education, an operating zoo, veterinarian clinic, scientific research laboratory or a licensed show or <br />exhibition. <br />(Ord. 24, passed 10-27-1999) <br /> <br />~ 90.06 IMPOUNDING. <br /> <br />(A) Running at large. Any animal running at large is hereby declared a public nuisance. Any <br />police officer may impound any animal found unlicensed or any animal found running at large and <br />shall give notice of the impounding to the owner of the animal, if known. <br /> <br />(B) Reclaiming. All animals conveyed to the pound shall be kept, with humane treatment and <br />sufficient food and water for their comfort, at least five regular business days to a maximum of seven <br />days, unless reclaimed sooner by their owner or keeper as provided by this chapter. If the animal is a <br />dangerous animal as defined in this chapter, it may be impounded for a period of time, including the <br />time required to complete an appeal process. The owner of an animal is required to pay the entire costs <br />of confinement of any animal. Immediately on confinement of any animal, reasonable effort shall be <br />made by the impounding official to notify the owner of the animal of the animal's confinement, and <br />procedures to be followed for reclamation of the animal. <br /> <br />(l) Any animal may be redeemed from the pound by the owner upon performance of the <br />following: <br /> <br />I no,-, 11 ~ <br /> <br />n1na <br />
