MN <br /> <br />June 19,2008 <br /> <br />Mr. Dallas Larson <br />City of Centerville <br />1880 Main Street <br />Centerville, MN 55038 <br /> <br />RE: APPROVAL OF 2009 NORm METRO TELECOMMUNICATIONS <br />COMMISSION BUDGET <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Larson: <br /> <br />Enclosed, please find for the council's review and approval the 2009 North Metro <br />Telecommunications Commission Budget. <br /> <br />L 2009 BUDGET <br /> <br />The Commission's operating budget for 2009, which includes franchise fees that go back to the <br />cities, is proposed at $1,241,763. This is an increase of5.l% over the 2008 budget. The increase <br />is due to a recommended 3% salary increase for staff, a proposed franchise and PEG fee audit of <br />Comcast, increased legal fees, and inflation and fuel related costs. <br /> <br />Capital costs of$392,474 include video production equipment, a reader-board sign for the <br />building, production truck body work and logo application, and the building bond payment. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />That the Member Cities approve the 2009 Commission Budget as <br />recommended by the Telecommunications Commission and the <br />Operations Committee. <br /> <br />D. 2009 PEG FEE <br /> <br />In addition to the budget, the Commission and Operations Committee have also proposed an <br />increase in the subscriber's monthly PEG fee from S2.821month to S2.9OImonth. The <br />Memorandum of Understanding between the Member Cities and Corneast allows for an annual <br />cost of living increase in the PEG fee. The eight-cent increase represents a 2.8% CPI average. <br />The increased funding is necessary for North Metro TV to meet staffmg and equipment goals. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />That Member Cities approve an increase in the PEG fee to $2.90/month <br />as recommended by the Telecommunications Commission and <br />Operations Committee. <br /> <br />12S20PolkStreetNonheast.
