Mr. March explained that Staff has interpreted that pools fall <br />under the definition of Accessory Structure and, therefore, pools are limited to two <br />percent (2%) of the rear yard similar to that ofa shed. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson questioned the appropriateness of a Variance in this case. <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers explained that would not work due to time <br />constraints and the requirement of holding a public hearing. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated that Council usually approves the recommendation of the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission. However, she would prefer a telephone poll <br />following the meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg questioned whether Ms. Peil has contacted other construction firms to <br />construct the pool. Ms. Peil stated that she had and that no other contractors were <br />available prior to August. <br /> <br />Mr. Hoeft suggested that Council either attend the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />meeting, call a special meeting or have a telephone poll following the meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg questioned what would happen if someone raised major concerns about <br />pools at the public hearing. Mr. Hoeft stated that there could be a possibility of that <br />happening and suggested calling a special meeting following the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission meeting prior to releasing the permit. Mr. March stated that he did not <br />believe the public hearing would be of interest to very many people. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Nelson. seconded bv Council Member Capra to <br />schedule a special meetin2 of the City Council on Mav 1. 2001 at 7:00 p.m. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />VII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />VIII. OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Mr. March stated that Staff had located the actual bid for Hunter's Crossing that listed <br />four (4) alternates. Mr. March stated that the City chose Northdale Construction, which <br />had the highest cost for the alternates and that may be the reason the project was not <br />awarded. Mr. March stated that Mr. Peterson had indicated in a letter that funding should <br />be discussed prior to approving an alternate. Mr. March also stated that at the time the <br />bid was awarded, no commitment had been received from The County Bank. <br /> <br />Mr. March submitted copies of the building permit plans that show an "X" where the <br />requested hydrant was drawn on same by the Centennial Fire District.
