<br />Council Member Lee told residents not to believe everything read in the newspaper and <br />invited them to watch on television or come to the Council meetings to see what actually <br />happens. <br /> <br />Council Member Paar encouraged residents to contact him directly any time they have <br />questions and encouraged residents to watch the meetings. He then said he realized there <br />would be some of this when he was elected, but did not realize that the newspapers would <br />actually be printing complete lies and inaccuracies and he has no patience for this type of <br />thing. <br /> <br />2. Personnel Policy - Short/Long Term Disabilitv Insurance <br /> <br />Council discussed the short and long-term disability insurance options and decided to <br />wait until the union contract is negotiated to make a determination on how to proceed. <br /> <br />3. Legislative Update <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the chances are good that there will be levy limits at the <br />2003 level and wage freezes for public employees. <br /> <br />Council discussed the potential impact to moral should the wage freeze take effect before <br />all employees received their full increase and asked whether Council could approve the <br />increase now and have it effective on the anniversary date. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that Council could not skirt around the wage freeze in that <br />manner and recommended waiting to see what happens as nothing has been decided at <br />this point. <br /> <br />4. Capital Proiects <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated he is working with Staff and the developers to reach <br />settlements and will bring those to Council for consideration. <br /> <br />5. Pending Issues <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes overviewed the required report from the state for building fees <br />indicating that the numbers prove that the claim that the City is making money on fees is <br />inaccurate. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the City Clerk is working on the Ordinance codification. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that she had provided an invitation to attend the open house <br />and public hearing for CSAH 14 on the Hugo side of the project. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee asked Staff to look into whether the developer on the Buckbee <br />property paid the $250 fee per lot as required. <br /> <br />Page 16 of 17 <br />
