<br />Mayor Swedberg indicated he did not feel the City could equitably contribute to all <br />worthwhile causes. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra to table this reQuest. The motion died for lack of <br />a second. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to deny the reQuest from Centennial Senior Hi2h. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra commented that the City does have residents whose children <br />attend Centennial Senior High. She then noted that the school is taking on the <br />responsibility to do a lock in for seniors and she thinks the City should look into a way of <br />helping to provide this service to the community for its teenagers. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that she was the Chairperson for the event <br />one year and they did not come to the City to ask for funds. <br /> <br />Vote: Aves - 5. Navs - O. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />A resident in attendance commented that this event is not a school event it is an event <br />sponsored by parents for the seniors that is held at the school. <br /> <br />10. EDC <br /> <br />Ms. Amy Fairbrother, Chairperson of the EDC, thanked Council for allowing the EDC <br />time on its agenda and then announced that the EDC was supporting a festival called <br />Snow Biz that runs in conjunction with the St. Paul Winter Carnival on February 15, and <br />February 16, 2002. She also noted that there would be horse drawn hayrides, ice skating, <br />a scavenger hunt, a snowman building contest, etc. <br /> <br />Ms. Fairbrother indicated that the EDC had been working on the 2002 business directory <br />and noted it was more detailed than it has been in years' past. She then noted that it <br />would be sent to all residents. <br /> <br />Ms. Fairbrother indicated that the appointments to the EDC were on the Consent Agenda <br />for Council this evening and said she hopes that Council accepts the recommendation of <br />the EDC. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked whether the EDC would like Staff or Council to respond <br />to the e-mail sent on November 18, 2001. <br /> <br />Ms. Fairbrother indicated that the EDC was looking for an update on those items and <br />noted that the EDC did not want to lose its focus going into 2002. <br /> <br />Page 20 of24 <br />
