<br />~ <br /> <br />Ill. PUBLIC HEARING(S) <br /> <br />1. CSAH 14 Watermain Extension <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg opened the public hearing at 6:32 p.m. <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson.briefly explained the proposed watermain extension and noted he <br />had provided additional funding options as requested. He also noted that the majority of <br />the project would be directionally drilled to avoid the disruption of digging up the street. <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson noted the driving force for extending the watermain is to provide <br />water for the new development called The Shores. <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson reviewed the funding options for the project and explained how <br />he had arrived at the figures. He then indicated that, looking at the numbers, it appears <br />that the approximate assessment per lot for individual residents varies between $4,500 <br />and $8,100. He also commented that he feels Option Three seems to be the most <br />equitable for all parties involved. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked if Mr. Rehbein would be attending the meeting. Mr. Vargo <br />stood up and indicated that he was there to represent Mr. Rehbein. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked if there would be three fire hydrants. City Engineer <br />Peterson indicated that there would be a total of three fire hydrants. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the fire hydrant placement was recommended by the Fire <br />Chief. City Engineer Peterson indicated he based the fire hydrant placement on the <br />engineering standards for hydrant placement. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra noted the document stated there was to be some tree clearing. <br />She then asked if those trees would be replaced. City Engineer Peterson indicated that <br />the trees to be cleared are in the County right-of-way and would not be replaced. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked the definition of a watering term. City Engineer Peterson <br />explained that it meant removing ground water in the hole that is dug. He then indicated <br />that most of the project would be directionally drilled. <br /> <br />Mr. Bruce Lattu of 7246 Main Street asked what prompted the extension of the <br />watermain. <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson indicated the proposed new development, The Shores, prompted <br />the watermain extension because he feels it would be better to have City water in that <br />development rather than 10 private wells in such a small area. He also noted that Water <br />Works is interested in water to be able to provide for sprinklers for the business to lower <br />insurance costs. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 28 <br />
