<br />i-t" 'j 0 <br /> <br />1195-660.1 SIGNS: It is unlawful for any person to construct, erect, install, or maintain any sign in <br />the City of Hugo, except in conformance with this ordinance. <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Signs that meet the standards contained in this ordinance may be allowed as an <br />accessory use in the appropriate zoning district of the City with a permit issued by the Building <br />Official. Site plan approval of the location, type, sty Ie, and dimensions of all signs is required <br />before issuance of the sign permit by the Building Official. Any Conditional Use Permit <br />required shall be acquired by the applicant prior to the Building Official issuing any permit for <br />the sign. <br /> <br />Subd. 2 The Building Official shall issue a numbered permit for every sign approved. <br />Every sign erected shall have the permit number issued by the Building Official permanently <br />displayed at a conspicuous place on the sign. <br /> <br />Subd. 3 The following signs located outside of a Shoreland Impact Zone are exempt <br />from any permitting requirement found in this section for the period of time required to meet <br />their purpose: <br /> <br />(A) Traffic control signs erected by government authority. <br /> <br />(B) Traffic flow informational signs on public and private property. <br /> <br />(C) Election signs erected in accordance with Minnesota Statues 2Il.B. Election <br />signs must be removed within forty-eight (48) hours following the closing of the polls <br />to which they are related. <br /> <br />(D) Real estate for-sale signs of eight (8) square feet or less located on the property <br />being advertised for sale. <br /> <br />(E) The flags of any nation, state, municipality, U.S. military service, or veterans <br />organization chartered by Congress. <br /> <br />(F) Safety notices and warnings. <br /> <br />(G) Temporary signs advertising garage sales or similar limited activities, of six (6) <br />square feet or less, located on the property where the event or activity the sign is <br />advertising is located. <br /> <br />(H) Signs identifying buildings listed on a state or national historic buildings <br />register. <br /> <br />(I) One contractor's sign, not exceeding sixty-four (64) square feet, located on the <br />site of construction of a new building or facility. The sign may identify the project <br />architects, engineers, or similar professionals with responsibility for the project, as well <br />as the contractors working on the site, project financing institutions, and building <br />owners. . <br />(J) Holiday decorations in their season. <br /> <br />(K) Temporary banners announcing an activity or event. <br /> <br />(L) No hunting, no trapping, no fishing, no trespassing, and similar signs erected in <br />accordance with Minnesota Statutes 97B.OO 1. <br />
