<br />City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />August 13, 2008 <br />Motion made bv Council Member Broussard-Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Pur. to approve Items 1 -5 and Items 7-10 of the Consent A2enda. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />6. Pulled for Diseussion - Kelly's Reauest for Temporarv Event Permit & Temoorarv <br />Enlargement of Serving Alcohol on Premise (August 16.2008) <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers expressed concern regarding Kelly's diagram, with the <br />note stating that all gates in the outdoor area would be bolted shut. She recommended that <br />they should be required to keep at least one gate open on each side and have them staffed. <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers stated if that issue was resolved, she would support <br />approval of the request. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra inquired whether the temporary serving of alcohol outdoors would be a <br />problem. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee replied that the mixed drinks would be sold inside. Only the beer <br />would be sold outside. <br /> <br />Legal Counsel Spector stated that the City Council has the authority to approve this <br />request. <br /> <br />Motion made bv Council Member Broussard-Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Lee. to approve KeUy's reouest for temoorarv event oermit and tempOrary <br />enlar2ement of servin!! alcohol on premise fAueust 16. 2(08). with the modification <br />that at least one ute would be left ODen on each side and staffed. A W ARDSIPRESENTATIONS/APPEARANCES <br /> <br />Julie Ravmoncl7174 Brian Drive - Suggestions Concernin'l Communication with <br />Residents <br /> <br />Julie Raymond appeared to state that she could not get timely answers to her email from <br />Council Members regarding the right-of-way issue regarding her property. She stated that <br />email should not go unanswered by the people making decisions for the City. She added <br />that she also contacted City Finance Director Meyer on August 8, but did not receive a <br />response from him until this afternoon, August 15. At that time, he only responded with 2 <br />short sentences, stating that the City bas $8,055,596 in long-term debt, and she should call <br />if she had any further questions. She also requested information from Mayor Capra on <br />July 23, and did not receive a response until August 12. She stated that these behaviors <br />should be addressed, and there should be some protocol for City Council Members and <br />City Staff to answer messages from citizens in a timely manner. <br /> <br />Laura.
