Centerville Lions Club Request to use Old Public Works Site, 7087 - 20th Avenue, for
2008 Haunted House (October 17, 18 & 24, 25, 2008
Mr. Keiselhorst, from the Lions Club, stated that last year the Lions Club was able to
utilize the Waterworks facility for their haunted house; however, they can not utilize it in
the coming years so they are requesting permission to use the Old Public Works Site, or
the warming house at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for their Haunted house. Mr.
Keiselhorst added that they would also like to do free hay rides.
Motion by Council Member Broussard-Vickers, seconded by Council Member Paar,
to approve the Centerville Lions Club's request to use the warming house at Laurie
LaMotte Memorial Park for the 2008 Haunted House (October 17, 18 & 24, 25, 2008),
subiect to final approval by the Fire Chief. All in favor. Motion
carried unanimously.
2. Res. #08-024 -Proposed 2009 Budget & Tax Levi
City Administrator Larson stated after the initial levy is adopted, that the levy can go down
but not up.
Mayor Capra stated that this is up from last year.
Councilmember Paar stated that the reduction in Local Government Aid does not hurt the
City, since the city received so little, the Council would not see huge spikes up and down.
City Administrator Larson reported that a significant element of the Local
Governent Aid formula is based on the age of housing stock. Since most of the housing in
Centerville is newer than 1940 the formula doesn't benefit Centerville.
Mayor Capra read the Resolution to the City Council. She reported that there will be a
Budget Hearing on December 10, 2008, and the continuation date is December 17, 2008 at
6:30 p.m.
