<br />City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />November 12, 2008 <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that if the Council wished to do so, all the water improvement <br />could be removed from assessments on the project. He suggested that they should change <br />how this is done in the future for everyone by possibly including a trunk fee. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson suggested that they may want to review this in more detail at a <br />workshop. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra suggested having a Workshop on Monday, December 1, which was <br />previously the tentative date for a Public Hearing on assessments for the project. Action to <br />set a public hearing could be on the agenda for the December 2 Truth in Taxation meeting. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz reported that January 27,2008 is the deadline to award the contract. <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers and Mayor Capra questioned whether the 2009 Street <br />Project could be added to the Agenda for the December 2 Taxation Meeting. City <br />Administrator Larson stated that it could. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. The Council concured to tentatively schedule the Public Hearing on <br />January 7, 2009, with January 6 as a possible back-up date. <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers stated that she would desire to see the proposed <br />assessment amounts prior to consideration. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that this would be changing their policy for going forward. She added <br />that she is concerned about possibly setting a precedence and being fair to people in the <br />2004 Project. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Lee. seconded bv Council Member Broussard-Vickers. to <br />table consideration of the call for a Public Hearine: on Special Assessments for the <br />2009 Street Improvement Proiect until after the City Council has met to discuss it <br />further. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz reminded the Council that the City has 90 days (the last day being <br />January 27, 2009) to award the contract, and the Council will have to allow time to have <br />the Public Hearing before that date also. <br /> <br />3. Res. #08-030 - Submission of Safe Routes to School Grant Application <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson stated that this will be the City's third attempt to get a tunnel <br />crossing under CSAH 14 approved, to provide children with a safe route to school. He <br />added that this will be the City's last chance to submit this request as the county road <br />reconstruction will be completed early next summer. <br /> <br />Page 5 of 10 <br />
