City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />November 12, 2008 <br />Mr. Sweeney reported that the Centerville Lions collected a lot of food for the food <br />shelf. He stated that they had a Boy Scout troop leader and a couple scouts helping, along <br />with some people from Eagle Brook Church. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to allow <br />Public Works Director Palzer and the City Staff accommodate the temporary storage <br />needs of the Centerville Lions. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />VII. OLD BUSINESS <br />Un-declare Linda Broussard-Vickers Day -Res. #OS-021 <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers requested that this resolution be rescinded. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to rescind <br />Resolution #05-021 regarding Linda Broussard-Vickers Day. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br />Parks & Recreation Committee's Request to Make Final Payment to Veit & <br />Company for Hidden Spring Park Renovation <br />Councilmember Lee reported that the Parks & Recreation Committee did awalk-through <br />of the Hidden Spring Park renovation and found that everything appeared to be completed. <br />City Engineer Statz reported that the amount of the final payment was $17,633.67. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Broussard-Vickers, to <br />approve the fifth and final payment of $17,633.67 and close out the contract with <br />Veit & Company for the Hidden Spring Park Renovation. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />2. Res. #08-XXX -Calling for a Public Hearin. on Special Assessments for the 2009 <br />Street Improvement Project <br />City Administrator Larson displayed a slide, which showed the impact of the 2009 Street <br />and Utility Project on non-specially assessed properties. He reported that the City's <br />portion of the Project's cost is $2.8 million or $268,000 annually. The annual cost of the <br />levy fora $250,000 house would be approximately $152 per year, and the cost for a <br />business, with a $250,000 market value, would be approximately $305 per year. <br />Mayor Capra reported that at the Special City Council Meeting on November 5, the <br />Council looked at the potential of pulling the water portion out of the assessment and the <br />costs recouped through connection charges as they are used.
