City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />November 12, 2008 <br />Discussion ensued. <br />2. Police Governing Board -Written Statement - 11/10/08 <br />Mayor Capra stated that the Police Governing Board met on November 10, 2008. The <br />Governing Board received a written statement regarding the Chief of Police, which raised <br />an issue regarding job performance. Mayor Capra read this written statement to the <br />Council, and said it would be available for the media. She stated that the Governing <br />Board, with the help of Consultants, will be implementing Job Performance Evaluations <br />for all members of the Department. She stated that the Police Governing Board accepted <br />the written statement as this part of the Job Review. The Midwest Community Policing <br />Institute will also be working with them, and they will be proceeding with the entire <br />Department. This will be implemented some time in January. <br />3. Council Goals/Objectives 2009 <br />Councilmember Paar stated that the Council has "a lot on its plate," and they have a new <br />Council Member, who wants to jump right in. He suggested that this be covered in a <br />Workshop. <br />Mayor Capra stated that, in February, they could have a separate evening Workshop to <br />look at what was done in the past and what should be done going forward. <br />City Administrator Larson stated that he would send an example of what they had last year <br />and add a few suggestions for 2009. <br />Councilmember Paar suggested that the Council invite The Beard Group to attend a City <br />Council Meeting to give the Council an update on the downtown redevelopment He also <br />suggested having an all Committee Meeting. <br />4. Parks & Recreation Committee <br />Councilmember Lee reported that the Parks & Recreation Committee met on Wednesday, <br />November 5. He stated that the big issue is signage. He added that this is not getting <br />done, and it needs better follow-up through Public Works. <br />Councilmember Lee stated that aWalk/ Run activity was discussed. He stated that this <br />event would be an all-day event. <br />Councilmember Lee reported that there were more problems at Eagle Park involving <br />teenager issues. Some of the ideas Officer Dixon had suggested to the Park and Rec. <br />Committee, at a previous meeting, were enacted. Councilmember Lee added that the <br />Committee will work on more lighting and will need assistance from the Public Works <br />Department. The Committee is also in the process of working on additional solutions. <br />5. Planning & Zoning Commission -Changes to City Code Chapters 150-154 <br />Page 9 of 10 <br />
