DID YOU KNOW THAT OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH?
Domestic violence is the use or threat of use of physical,
sexual or verbal behavior to coerce a partner to do something in
order to gain or maintain power and control in a relationship.
Common forms of domestic violence include emotional abuse,
physical assault and threats. One in three women will be abused
during their lifetime, and the violence will affect all our communi-
ties. One in three teenagers report knowing a friend or peer who
has been hit, punched, kicked, slapped, choked or physically hurt
by their partner. If trapped in an abusive relationship, 73% of
teens said they would turn to a friend for help, but only 33% who
have been in or known about an abusive relationship said they
have told anyone about it. For more information, visit:
www.alexandrahouse.org. Or call 763-781-2332.
work within the required time may result in the City doing the work
and charging the costs to the property. Thank you for your coopera-
tion.
Street Obstructions. We have had problems with landscapers and oth-
ers dumping rock and mulch on City streets. The same is true of roll-
off dumpsters during construction projects. It is a violation of City Or-
dinance to place any obstruction on a City street without a permit, as
these items can damage the street or cause hazards to motorists.
Generally, we will not issue a permit for rock and mulch on the street
and rarely will issue a permit for a dumpster. These should be placed
in the driveway or on the yards The Police Department will issue cita-
ept., 2008
