<br />Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes 01-07-09 <br /> <br />Chairperson Seeley requested a period be added to the end of the last sentence under Skate Night on page <br />3 of 4 immediately preceding the motion. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Vice-Chairperson Amundsen, seconded by Committee Member Selander to <br />approve the December 3, 2008 Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes with the above <br />correction. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Chairperson Seeley requested a discussion of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson positions be added under <br />Committee Business. The committee felt Chairperson Seeley and Vice-Chairperson Amundsen were <br />doing a great job in these positions and would like them to remain. Both Chairperson Seeley and Vice- <br />Chairperson Amundsen were comfortable with remaining in these positions, but would like to give other <br />committee members the opportunity if they so desired <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Haiden, seconded by Committee Member Selander to <br />nominate Chairperson Seeley to remain in the position of Chairperson of the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee for 2009. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Chairperson Seeley accepted. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Committee Member Harris, seconded by Committee Member Haiden to <br />nominate Vice-Chairperson Amundsen to remain in the position of Vice-Chairperson of the Parks <br />& Recreation Committee for 2009. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Vice-Chairperson Amundsen accepted. <br /> <br />Centennial Lakes Little League Request for Use of Ball Fields for 2009 Season <br /> <br />Included in the packet for December 2008 was a request from Centennial Lakes Little League to use the <br />ball fields at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for 2009. Before making a recommendation to City Council <br />the Parks & Recreation Committee wanted to know exactly what ‘the same service provided by Public <br />Works Staff in regards to grooming the fields prior to games’ involves. Ms. Stephan requested <br />information from Public Works. <br /> <br />Per Mr. Tedd Peterson, Public Works: <br />As a staff we were directed to groom the ball fields Monday through Thursday. Grooming the ball fields <br />took about an hour a day. Just a note, Centennial Little League purchased a new groomer for the City in <br />the spring of 2008. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Vice-Chairperson Amundsen, seconded by Committee Member Branch to <br />recommend City Council approve the request from Centennial Lakes Little League to use the three <br />baseball and softball fields and facilities located at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for the summer <br />months of 2009 beginning April 1 through August 15, 2008, Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. <br />until dark with the same service provided by Public Works Staff in regards to grooming the fields <br />Monday through Thursday.
