<br />RESOLUTION 92- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OPPOSING PROPOSED LEGISLATION THAT LIMITS ABILITY OF <br />THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL OR METROPOLITAN WASTE CONTROL COMMISSION <br />TO BORROW FUNDS FOR SEWER INTERCEPTOR EXTENSION (H.F. #1778 AND <br />S.F. #1656) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, passage of said bill could inhibit the Metropolitan <br />Waste Control commission's ability to serve the needs of the <br />Centerville/Lino Lakes area, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission has undertaken <br />a study to consider improvements to better serve the <br />Centerville/Lino Lakes area, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, such legislation undermines the Metropolitan Council's <br />authority and responsibility for Metropolitan Planning as set <br />forth in the Land Planning Act as adopted by the Minnesota <br />Legislature, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, interceptors serving the majority of the urbanizing area <br />have already been constructed by the Metropolitan Waste Control <br />Commission, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it <br />interceptor <br />development <br />development <br /> <br />is inappropriate <br />extensions needed <br />which is consistent <br />framework; <br /> <br />to single out a few remaining <br />for communities to complete <br />with the Metropolitan Council's <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Centerville as follows: <br /> <br />1. The City of Centerville is opposed to legislation <br />proposed as House File Number 1778 and Senate File <br />Number 1656 as currently drafted. <br /> <br />2. The City of Centerville encourages its state senators <br />and representatives to oppose passage of the bills as <br />currently drafted. <br /> <br />3. A copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to all <br />Centerville legislators. <br /> <br />4. A copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to the <br />Metropolitan Council. <br />
