<br />- <br /> <br />Transportation Advisory Board <br />of the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities <br /> <br />r[D)~ @ ~ 0 ITl ~m <br />UIl MAR 24 2009 @I <br /> <br />By <br /> <br />Announcement of Project Solicitation for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act <br />(ARRA) Transportation Enhancements Funding <br /> <br />There is approximately $7.5 million available to the seven-county region for Transportation <br />Enhancements projects from the ARRA. This is a solicitation for project applications for the use <br />of these funds. Please find the application and information on project eligibility and restrictions <br />on the Metropolitan Council website at <br />http://www.metrocouncil.orgfplanningftransportation/regsolicit.htm . <br /> <br />Eligible Applicants <br />State agencies, cities, and counties in the 7-county metropolitan area, regional park agencies, or <br />non-profit organizations with an application that is sponsored by a public agency are eligible for <br />Transportation Enhancements funding. All applicants are limited to onlv one Drovosal to be <br />considered for funding. <br /> <br />Eligible Project Types <br />The following types of projects are eligible for receiving Transportation Enhancements funds: <br /> <br />1. Provision offacilities for pedestrians and bicycles. <br />2. Provision of safety and educational activities for pedestrians and bicyclists. <br />3. Acquisition of scenic easements and scenic or historic sites including historic battlefields. <br />4. Scenic or historic highway programs (including the provision of tourist and welcome <br />center facilities). <br />5. Landscaping and other scenic beautification. <br />6. Historic preservation. <br />7. Rehabilitation and operation of historic transportation buildings, structures, or facilities <br />(including historic railroad facilities and canals). <br />8. Preservation of abandoned railway corridors (including the conversion and use thereof <br />for pedestrian or bicycle trails). <br />9. Inventory, control and removal of outdoor advertising. <br />10. Archaeological planning and research. <br />11. Environmental mitigation to address water pollution due to highway runoff or reduce <br />vehicle-caused wildlife mortality while maintaining habitat connectivity. <br />12. Establishment oftransportation museums. <br /> <br />Directions for Submittal of Applications <br />Applications must be received by the Metropolitan Council by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3. <br />Applicants may submit their application via email toiames.andrew@metc.state.mn.us or by mail <br />at 390 Robert Street North, St Paul, MN 55101.
