<br />City of CenteIville <br />City Council Meeting <br />April 8, 2009 <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz replied yes, that there are only one or two more. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Lee. seconded bv Council Member Pan. to aDDrove <br />Work Order #7. in the amount of $790. and Work Order #13. in the amount of <br />$10.981.92. Motion carried (4/0. Council Member Broussard Vickers oDDosed. <br /> <br />lX. ANNOUNCEMENTSIUPDATES <br /> <br />1. City Administrator. Dallas Larson <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson stated that, regarding the question about the Lift Station asked <br />at the last City Council Meeting, the City would not be going back to the type of pumps the <br />City had previously. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson stated that the City would be applying for a Safety Grant for <br />safety equipment. He stated that the City's cost would be to match the $2,500. <br /> <br />2. Emergency Notification <br /> <br />Mayor Capra passed out an article from the Pioneer Press about how a 12-year-old special <br />needs boy was found within an hour after Eagan's auto alert system called for help. The <br />recorded phone message reached more than 365 telephone landlines within a half-mile <br />radius of the child's home, alerting them that the boy was missing. Strangers looked <br />through garages, back yards, and the park woods. An hour later, a man who had received <br />the alert found the boy. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that this auto alert system would be a good way to get an urgent <br />message out to citizens. She stated that she would look into the cost. <br /> <br />3. Street Naming <br /> <br />Council member Paar suggested that the City ask people to submit on the City's website, <br />possible names for the Backage Road. After all the names are received, the City Council <br />could then make the decision. He suggested that they also ask the local newspapers to <br />direct people to the website. This should be finalized by the end of May. <br /> <br />4. Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee reported that the Parks and Recreation Committee has recently had a <br />lot of meetings. A couple of the topics discussed were trail updates and park changes. The <br />Committee decided to put everything that was not time sensitive on hold. <br /> <br />5.
