MEMO DATE: January 9, 2002 TO: Mayor and Council Kim Moore-Sykes, City Administrator ~ Goals and Objectives for 2002 - FROM: RE: ............................................................................ On May 23,2001, Council adopted Goals of2001 & 2002. This document was the result of a memo that the Mayor presented the Council in March. Recently, Staff reviewed the goals and objectives and the following are updates to the Council's Goals and Objectives for 2001 & 2002. Examine Communication Methods. Completed. The Ad Hoc Committee that Council formed presented their report to Council in November 2001. Council directed Staff of work with GovOffice to update the City Web site and to purchase a digital camera. To date, Staffhas contacted GovOffice and has scheduled to meet with them Monday, Jan. 7,2002. Economic Development and Planning: Item I.Connnercial and Industrial Concept and Streetscape Plans. Council approved $3,500 to be paid to Shea Architects who did some preliminary landscaping work for the City. Item 2. Develop Presentation Quality for City. EDC have worked with Media Junction to produce a draft brochure. Infrastructu re Planning. Staff is currently working with City engineers on the Surface Water and Storm Water Management Plan. Planning and Zoning: Item 1. Education and Training. To be completed by June 2002. The Government Training Services does offer planning and zoning seminars that familiarize attendees with planning and zoning administrative laws, state statutes, and accepted practices and concepts in land use, planning and zoning. These sessions are usually held in February and March. The Administrator, Planning and Zoning Commission and Councilmember Broussard Vickers are members ofthe American Planning Association.
