Each year for the past 15 years the communities of Anoka County have made a commitment ititheir budgetst~; !:ontinue mediation services. Local communities like yours have been a consistent source of support both for cases and revenue for our agency and we appreciate it. Thank you. In 2002 Mediation Services will celebrate 15 years of service to local communities and will participate with other community mediation programs to celebrate 20 years of service in Minnesota We hope to research, write and disseminate the history of community mediation and create a report in an easy-to-mail brochure that will be used to educate the community and promote mediation. We expect to find several benefits of the presence of community mediation in Anoka County: . police departments need resources that are accessible to the citizens with lesser complaints; . local governments need resources that are quick, reliable and easy for citizens to use; . legal advice is still unattainable for a large population either because of cost of because of lack of education about using court; . clients are becoming more and more aware of their own ability and power in a dispute and are choosing to resolve their differences outside of the traditionally-chosen paths; . that crime and violence reduction can only occur through education, resource and community-building which Mediation Services is uniquely qualified to provide. The number of clients served has grown exponentially since we began in 1987. We have trained thousands of adults and children in mediation and conflict resolution skills. We have experience in offering workplace training in conflict resolution and mediation. We also offer mediation for internal staff disputes for cities and companies. We understand how much time and energy workplace disputes take and the effect on morale. Thank you for your attention to this invoice.
