<br />Council Member Capra asked if the information for the Traffic Safety Management <br />meeting could be put on the cable channel and asked that Staff contact Mr. Lee because <br />he is very interested in these issues. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked Staff to notify the resident that has been before Council <br />on Traffic Safety a couple of times so he is aware ofthe meeting. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she had provided notice of the meeting to the Park and <br />Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />8. Council Pay/Cancelled Meeting <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers commented that she had assumed Council would not <br />be paid for a meeting that was not held. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that Council is paid $200 per month plus $25.00 for any extra <br />meetings scheduled. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that the minutes from the January 26, 2000 meeting <br />contained a motion by Council Member Sweeney and seconded by Council Member <br />Broussard Vickers to increase Council pay to $200 and the Mayor's pay to $250 and to <br />require no penalty for missing less than three meetings. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated that Council would be paid if they had not missed <br />three meetings. She then indicated that, if Council wished to change the pay and penalty <br />requirements it would need to do so this year to be effective for the year 2003. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson questioned whether a member would be penalized for missing a <br />meeting if Council decided not to hold the meeting and that put the member at three <br />missed meetings. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she had interpreted the meeting as a cancelled meeting not a <br />missed meeting. <br /> <br />9. Centennial Senior High School Donation Request (2002 Graduation Party) <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that Council needed to determine if the donation would <br />benefit the City. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated she was not interested in having the City contribute to <br />this event. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that this was a worthwhile cause but said <br />that there are a lot of worthwhile causes in the City and the City cannot afford to donate <br />to all of them so it would be better to donate to none of them. <br /> <br />Page 19 of24 <br />
