<br />, <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />". <br /> <br />City of Centerville <br />February 27, 2002 <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated the City does not have a wetland ordinance <br />at tbis time but uses the language from the 1991 Wetland Conservation Act in this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Jobn Watson of 1585 Peltier Lake Drive asked Council to add swim rafts to the <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Paul Dentz of 1667 Peltier Lake Drive asked Council to add pontoons to the <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mr. Thompson indicated the DNR told him that pontoons are registered watercraft and <br />come under the designation of boats but paddleboats and swim rafts come under the <br />designation of toys and are not licensed. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Council Member <br />Nelson to close the public hearin!!. All in favor. Motion carried unanimouslv. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg closed the public hearing at 6:47 p.m. <br /> <br />IV. APPEARANCES/AWARDS <br /> <br />1. Mr. Jerrv Lindner, Peltier Lake Association <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated he had given Mr. Lindner 25 minutes for his presentation and <br />noted he would cut the presentation off at that point. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner indicated he was not at the meeting to represent the Peltier Lake Association but <br />was there on his own behalf to present facts to Council on the ordinance issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner gave an overview of his background and education. He then played a videotape <br />for Council that gave an overview of the ins and outs of slalom waterskiing. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner indicated he has no intention of having tournaments on the lake and noted the <br />coursc is just for practice for him and his family. He then indicated bis son, who recently <br />began skiing, qualified for the regional tournament. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner indicated he is president of the Minnesota Water Ski Association and noted the <br />Association works to train children to ski. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner showed a diagram and explained an Accusink system and noted that it sinks to <br />the bottom when not in use making the course not visible. He also noted he only needs 1200 <br />feet for the course. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg said he would not disagree with anything Mr. Lindner has said, but said the <br />DNR has asked tbe City to provide a 500 foot buffer zone around the island to protect the <br /> <br />Page 3 of 24 <br />
