Thus, serving on
the Boan! is both an honor and a
responsibility.
Unlike the governing bodies of
some private companies, the prerequi-
sites for serving on the League Boan!
do not include wealth, prestige or
professional status. The 18 individu-
als serving on the Boan! blend together
to strengthen the League through

their diversity and unique experiences.
The actions of Boan! members not
only impact cities in the present, but
also "shape" the future direction of
the League as it strives to make a
positive impact on community lifu
and the state as a whole.
The roles and responsibilities of
those who serve on the Boan! of
Directors go far beyond the stated duties
outlined in the League's Constitution
and By-Laws. LMC Boan! members
are also role models for other city
leaders. The most valued and success-
ful Boan! members model such
characteristics as:
. The ability to motivate citizens to
participate in their local government;
. A caring concern fur all cities in
the state;
. A high level of participation in
meeting1; and other League activities;
.
