Help reduce survivor stress <br /> <br />Deplovment <br /> <br />CERT members are not officially deployed until they are activated by the Emergency <br />Management Director or his designee and have signed in with the authorized police <br />representative. <br /> <br />. CER T members do not self-deploy to disaster incidents. <br />. The Emergency Management Director or his designee can activate CERT <br />members through the CERT coordinator. <br />. The CER T coordinator (Michelle Lakso) will be given specific direction from the <br />Emergency Management Director or his designee as to the mission of the CERT <br />team during the disaster or the incident. <br />. Members of the CERT team fall under the Emergency Management Director or <br />his designee within the chain of command. <br />. CERT team members do have worker's compensation coverage if they have been <br />deployed during a disaster or incident. <br />. If a CER T member is injured during a disaster or incident, a First Report of Ir1iury <br />must be filed with the Emergency Management Director or his designee. <br /> <br />Conclusion - Benefit <br /> <br />The Centennial Lakes Police Department's Community Emergency Response Team <br />(CERT) was formed in March, 2008, and currently has 41 trained members. The CERT <br />teams act under the direction of the police department and are a valuable resource <br />during a disaster. During any disaster there is a limitless need for volunteers to assist. <br />Since our CER T teams have been trained, they have been deployed or assisted with the <br />following incidents: <br /> <br />. Assisted with coordinating volunteer services during the Hugo tornadoes. <br />. Assisted with clean-up operations in Hugo. <br />. Conducted severe weather awareness at Chauncey Barrett Senior Center. <br />. Assisting with training others in the community about personal emergency <br />preparedness. <br />
