City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
April 10, 2002

City Attorney Hoeft indicated Council could make the requirement that the Lioness
Branch must have a County health permit, if required.

Council Member Capra asked whether the City sells popcorn and hot chocolate or gives it
away at the warming house, No one was able to answer the question.

Mayor Swedberg indicated he would be more comfortable if no money went back to the
City for the use of the facility.

Council Member Nelson indicated that the City had looked at charging to use the facility
in order to recover some of the City's cost.

Council Member Broussard Vickers clarified that the Lions Auxiliary Branch would be
running the concessions not the Little League. She further clarified that a portion of the
monies would go to the City for Park and Recreation and the remaining funds would be
used for Lion charities,

Council Member Capra asked whether the Park and Recreation Committee wants a
concession stand at LaMotte Park. Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that the
Committee does want the concession stand at LaMotte Park.

Mayor Swedberg suggested tabling the discussion for consideration at another time.

Council Member Nelson said she would like to have people petition for funds and let
Council decide what to do.

Council Member Capra indicated she was not opposed to a structure in the park but said
she is not sure what type of structure that should be. She then indicated she would like
the Lions to come to Council to provide more information on the type of structure to be
constructed.

Council Member Broussard Vickers said she would like Council to ask the Park and
Recreation Committee what type of structure it wants.

Council Member Capra said she would like to see the Lions work with the Park and
Recreation Committee, Council Member Broussard Vickers commented that the two
groups had worked together on the matter before the money was available.

Council Member Capra indicated that the plan had been changed from the initial design
because when it first started it was to be a pavilion and now it is a concession stand.

Council Member Broussard Vickers suggested inviting the Lions back to discuss the
matter with the Park and Recreation Committee. She then said that she is not in favor of
disbursing the money to any other organization because the intent was to use the money
for the pavilion at LaMotte Park.
