<br />There are four grO\lpS of actors in this "drama." They are: <br /> <br />. City Council <br />· City Staff <br />· Concerned Neighbors and Citizens <br />· Developer <br /> <br />You have been assigned to work in a group that represents one of the four and will be at the <br />meeting to present your case. An agenda for the Council meeting is attached. Your group has 10 <br />minutes on that agenda to present its case. After the Council has made its decision and <br />adjourned the meeting, Charlie Meyer will lead the group in a debrief mg. Good Luck! <br /> <br />Timeline and Resources Available to You <br /> <br />Wednesday, June 19, 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. The youth delegates will meet in the McDonnell Suite <br />for a brief introduction and orientation with Anthony Jossey, graduate student at Minnesota <br />State-Mankato, who will be coordinator of this year's youth delegate program. Charlie Meyer, <br />City Manager ofSt. Louis Park, will join the meeting to help students understand the case study. <br />Students will be introduced to their team members. Other adult resource folks who are around <br />are welcome, but certainly not expected, to attend. <br /> <br />Wednesday, Juue 19, 12:00 -1:30 p.m.- Youth meet in Riverview SuiteE for lunch with a <br />group of expert advisors. Those include: <br /> <br />Kim Moore-Sykes, Councilmember, New Brighton <br />Charlie Meyer, City Manager, St. Louis Park <br />Tom Harmening, Director of Community Development, St. Louis Park <br />Russ Matthys, City Engineer, Eagan <br />Bruce Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation, Maplewood <br />Terry Schneider, Private Developer and Councilmember, Minnetonka <br /> <br />Guest experts will be assigned primarily to work with a group corresponding to their interest, for <br />example, the councilmember with the youth group serving as members of the city council. <br />However, all experts will make themselves available to all groups as requested. <br /> <br />Thursday, June 20, 12: 15 - 2: 15 - Youth meet again in Riverview Suite E for lunch to finalize <br />presentations for 2:30 p.m. mock council meeting. Same experts are available as for Wednesday <br />session. <br /> <br />Thursday, June 20, - 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. concurrent track session, "What Makes a City", in <br />Grand Ballroom A is setting for mock council meeting. Adult delegates to the conference are <br />invited to attend and observe, but not participate. (Note that session could be changed to 3:00- <br />5:00 ifLMC Annual meeting runs long). <br /> <br />During other times, youth delegates are encouraged to attend regular conference sessions that <br />they may find helpful or interesting. They are also encouraged to meet informally with their <br />group to work on the assignment. <br />
