Remove silt deposits once they reach 30 percent the height of the fence to provide adequate storage volume <br />for the next rain and to reduce pressure on the fence. Take care to avoid undermining the fence during <br />clean out. <br /> <br />It may be easier and more effective to remove and replace the silt fence when removing silt deposits. <br /> <br />Silt fences are to be removed upon stabilization of the contributing drainage area. Accumulated sediment may <br />be spread to form a surface for turf or other vegetation establishment, or disposed of elsewhere.
