<br />I <br />I <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This report marks 15 years of service provided to the community by <br />Mediation Services for Anoka County. We could not have <br />accomplished our goals year after year without the help and <br />encouragement of friends, funders, supporters, corrununity members, <br />referral sources, families and volunteers. It is with deep gratitude that I <br />thank the many who assisted us to take our place in this community. <br />Mediation Services for Anoka County is a state-certified community <br />dispute resolution program that believes people have both the ability <br />and the desire to resolve disputes respectfully to the satisfaction of all <br />parties. Mediation Services works diligently to support the peaceful <br />resolution of conflict through its services, mediation and training. <br />In 2001, Mediation Services opened 377 new cases, resolved 216 <br />cases through mediation and conciliation, and screened over 1,700 <br />matters that were referred to mete--appropriate services. Overall, <br />Mediation Services worked with over 3,472 inclividuals through <br />casework and presented information to 4,357 more. In addition, 625 <br />community members were trained in skills of conflict resolution and <br />mediation. Our volunteers recorded 2,616 hours worth $40,260 ($15.39 <br />per hour) according to Independent Sector's value of volunteer time. <br />We know our volunteer's time is priceless, but were amazed at this <br />concrete number. <br />Mediation Services provides convenient, effective, affordable and <br />confidential services to inclividuals, neighbors, families, governmental <br />units, businesses, c01nmunity and professional groups .in Anoka <br />County. Services are delivered through the efforts of professionally <br />trained volunteers, capable staff and a strong Board of Directors.
