<br />1. An employee is only eligible to receive donated sick leave for time <br />loss from work due to a major life threatening disease of condition <br />as described above, equal to the number of hours of time, <br />compensated by sick leave, vacation leave or compensatory time, <br />which the employee would lose from his/her job due to major life <br />threatening disease or. condition. <br /> <br />2. An employee will be eligible to receive donated sick leave only after <br />the employee's accrued sick leave, compensatory time and <br />vacation have been used by the employee. <br /> <br />3. No employee will be allowed to receive more than twenty days of <br />donated sick leave for any single major life threatening disease or <br />condition without the additional express approval of the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />4. Donated sick leave will be paid at the regular rate of the employee <br />receiving the donated time. <br /> <br />5. An employee may donate no more than sixteen hours per calendar <br />year to a single fellow employee. This shall not be construed to <br />prohibit donating sixteen hours each per year to additional fellow <br />employees. <br /> <br />6. A written request to donate sick leave must be made to the City <br />Council via the City Administrator. <br /> <br />7. The City Administrator shall have the right to deny use of donated <br />sick leave or limit its use as shall be determined necessary to the <br />best interests of the City. <br /> <br />10 UNPAID LEAVE WITHOUT PAY OF ABSENCE <br /> <br />10-1 General <br /> <br />A department head may authorize an unpaid leave without p3y of absence <br />for up to ten (10) days. Unpaid leave '1lithout P3Y of absence for greater <br />periods must be authorized by the City Council. <br /> <br />10-2 Effect on Benefits <br />No employee benefits will be earned by an employee while on unpaid <br />leave without pay of absence and an employee will not accrue or be paid <br />holiday pay, vacation or sick leave while on leave without pay of absence. <br />Leave without pay of absence hours will not count toward seniority and all <br />
