<br /> <br />'Esta6fisfi ed 1857 <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />October 9, 2002 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />Kim Moore-Sykes, City Administrator J!LU0 <br />Tri-City Coalition <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />............................................................................ <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the September 12th Tri-City meeting with Lino Lakes and Hugo, we heard a <br />presentation from Glen Van Wermer of SEH regarding the 13 5E Coalition that was <br />formed in 1995 to study the traffic, future land use development and the resultant traffic <br />once the development was completed, He reported on the successes and the pitfalls oC <br />creating such a coalition, but indicated that the greatest advantage that came about as the <br />result of the coalition was their access to State and Federal agencies, He felt the coalition <br />gained more attention because oftheir willingness to work together on these issues and <br />do regional planning rather than jurisdictional planning, Senator Mark Kennedy, MN <br />State Senator Krenz and MN State Representative Vanderveer agreed with Mr, Van <br />Wermer's assessment. <br /> <br />This idea of forming a coalition was discussed amongst the cities' representatives and it <br />was agreed that the representatives would take this idea back to their respective City <br />Councils and ask for a resolution supporting the establishment of this coalition, <br />
