<br />City of Centerville Ord #24 <br />Effective: 10/27/99 <br /> <br />24.11 Domestic Animal Shelters. A person in charge or control of any domestic animal which is <br />kept outdoors or in an .mheated enclosure shall provide the domestic animaI with shelter and bedding <br />as prescribed in this Section as a m;,,;mnm <br /> <br />(I) The shelter shan include a moisture proof and wind proof structure of <br />suitable size to accommodate the domestic animal and allow retention of <br />the body heat. <br /> <br />(2) Shade from the direct rays of the sun, during the months of June to <br />September shall be provided. <br /> <br />(3) A domestic animal kept on a fitrm may be provided with access to a barn <br />with sufficient quantity of loose bay or bedifing to protect against cold and <br />dampness. <br /> <br />(4) All shelters required by this Section shall be subject to all bnilding or <br />zoning regulations of the city, township, county or state. <br /> <br />24.12 Guard Dog Warning Signs. Apersonmaintainiog a dog for security purposes within the City <br />shall post a sign at all entrances to the property. Said sign shall be a minin1111'\1 of 6" x 12", with <br />letters of contrasting color, a minirmlJ1' of2" in height, and a brush stroke of2" minimnm, with the <br />following words affixed to such sign, DANGER. GUARD DOG. <br /> <br />24.13 Abandoned Animals. Upon written notice of the Chief of Police that private property is <br />attracting or providing shelter to animRl~ that are not owned or cared for by any known person, the <br />owner of such property shall be responsible fur removing such aninm'" in a humane manner within <br />thirty (30) days of such a written notice. <br /> <br />24.14 Animals Presenting a Danger to Health and Safety of City. It: in the reasonable belief of <br />a police officer, ananinml presents an immediate danger to the health and safety ofanyperson, orthe <br />animal is threatening imminent harm to any person, or the "nimal is in the process of attacking any <br />person, the officer may destroy the animal in a proper and hnmane manner. Otherwise theoflicer may <br />apprehend the aml1Ull and deliver it to the pound fur confinement. If the animal is destroyed, acbarge <br />to dispose of the animal is payable by the owner of the animal If the am1T1ll1 is fuund not to be a <br />danger to the heahh and safety of the City, it may be released to the owner or keeper in accordance <br />with the provisions of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />24.15 Diseased Animals. <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Keeping of Diseased AnimaL No person shall keep or allow to be kept on his or he <br />premises, or on premises occupied by them, nor permit to run at large in the City, any Imimal whichis <br />diseased so as to be a danger to the heahh and safety of the City, even though the animal be properly <br />licensed under this Section. <br /> <br />Page 11 of 16 <br />
