<br />UNAPPROVED <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />/ <br />\ <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />POSITION DESCRlPTION <br /> <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br />Performs highly responsible administrative and supervisory work involving maintaining, <br />cleaning and repairing of all streets; assigning and supervising Public Works construction <br />operations; assigning and supervising snow plowing, removal and ice control operations. In <br />addition, the incumbent will be responsible to perform and/or direct the performance of all City <br />maintenance functions and public works activities. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED: <br />Works under the general guidance and direction of the City Administrator. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED: <br />All Public Works and Building Inspection employees. <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <br />Public Works Responsibilities <br /> <br />· Assigns and supervises all work in the maintenance, cleaning, and repair of streets, including <br />patching of street surfaces, seal coating, asphalt overlays, concrete repairs, sidewalk and <br />curbing repairs and roadside maintenance. <br />· Assigns and supervises all work in the maintenance of City buildings, water system, sanitary <br />sewer system, storm water system, City parks and other such duties as assigned by the City <br />Administrator. <br />· Works with City Engineer to plan specific and long range work plans for street maintenance <br />based on the Pavement Management Plan as adopted by City Council. <br />· Keeps records on City equipment, City lift stations, and City vehicles, street maintenance, <br />water system maintenance, sanitary sewer system maintenance, storm water system <br />maintenance, park maintenance, and other such records as deemed necessary by City <br />ordinance, policy or resolution including inventories of supplies on hand and supplies <br />needed. <br />· Supervises the routine and emergency repairs of the wells, water tower, water mains, and all <br />water related facilities and equipment. <br />· Maintains all records and reports associated with the City's water system and related water <br />treatment processes. <br />· Documents all personnel actions taken and performance evaluations of Public Works <br />employees. <br />· Recommends methods, equipment, material, and labor necessary to perform all public works <br />functions. <br />· Previews working conditions and practices for adherence to federal, state and local safety <br />regulations and coordinates safety programs. <br /> <br />, <br />
