<br />( <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />Education and Experience <br />· Minimum of high school graduation and four (4) years experience in a progressively. <br />responsible municipal public works position; or <br />· An equivalent combination of education and experience. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br />. Considerable knowledge of city government structure and organization, city procedures, <br />ordinances and other laws, rules and regulations governing municipal public works and the <br />building code. <br />. Considerable knowledge of construction, maintenance and repair functions related to water, <br />sewer, streets and parks maintenance. <br />. Considerable knowledge of records maintenance and retention procedures and the legal <br />requirements for record keeping and retention. <br />. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with <br />supervisors, elected officials, subordinates, candidates, and the general public, some of whom <br />may be hostile. <br />. Ability to apply concepts of information technology to procedures while ensuring compliance <br />with legal requirements. <br />. Considerable ability to operate machines, equipment and vehicles that are routinely employed <br />by a municipal public works department. <br />. Considerable ability to plan and coordinate work programs on a City-wide basis; ability to <br />operate maintenance and construction equipment; ability to read and interpret engineering <br />plans and specifications, assign work and monitor the progress of construction and <br />maintenance projects. <br />. Considerable ability to deal with complex detail, analysis and computations <br />. Considerable skill in verbal and written communication. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: <br />? A valid state driver's license or ability to obtain one within three months. <br />? All required licenses and certifications must be maintained as active and valid by the <br />incumbent. <br /> <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: <br />May require frequent use of a personal computer (including word processing and spreadsheet <br />software); network computer system for e-mail and internet; IO-key calculator; telephone; copy <br />machine; and fax machine. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS: <br />The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an <br />employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
