Conviction of a felony or grOSS misdemeanor or of a misdemeanor involving moral <br />turpitude which affects the gerformance of assigned responsibilities: <br /> <br />· Gross negligence or willful conduct causing damage and/or abuse of City 9ropertv: <br /> <br />· Absence from work for two (2) consecutive days without notice to supervisor: <br /> <br />· Drinking alcoholic beverages during working hours, intoxicated while at work. or <br />consuming or being under the influence of any controlled substance unless prescribed <br />bv a physician while at work: <br /> <br />· Theft of public pr0gertv, pilferage or other unauthorized takinl! of public pr0gerty <br />from a public premises for 9rivate use: <br /> <br />· Carrvinl! or otherwise possessing a firearm or other dangerous weapon at the <br />workolace. Licensed peace officers who carrv a gun for work purposes are exempt <br />from this prohibition: <br /> <br />· Sexual. racial. or unethical harassment or discrimination of any City employee or <br />member of the public: <br /> <br />· Acting in a manner not here and above specified which tends to lower discipline or <br />morale within the City or that adversely affects the rendering of 9romot. courteous <br />and efficient service bv the City and its em9lovees to the public. <br /> <br />In addition. disciplinary action may be taken for reasons s9ecificallv defined bv <br />department rules other than those listed herein. <br /> <br />Discipline may take one of the following forms and may be applied orogressivelv as <br />noted below or based on Couocil discretion: <br /> <br />(keep current list) <br /> <br />17.3 Reasons for Dismissal. Given the list noted above, this section can be deleted. <br /> <br />20.3 Nepotism. The Council may want to discuss whether additional language should be added <br />addressing Council members relatives. The following suggested language may provide an initial <br />suggestion: <br /> <br />A) One relative would have the sole authority or practical power to supervise, appoint, <br />remove, or discipline the other. <br /> <br />The discussion topic is that simply being related to a couocil member would not be <br />deemed a violation of the policy because of the need of the council to act as a body. <br />
