TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council Members Kim Stephan ~ FROM: SUBJECT: Parks & Recreation Committee's Recommendation to Council Request for Dresel Contracting to Sub-Cut & Install Base for Trail Extension at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. DATE: October 7, 2004 Chairperson Peterson, as Public Works Staff, has discussed at the weekly construction meetings the possibility of having Dresel Contracting sub-cut and install base for a 200' trail extension along the east side of the parking lot at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park and would like City Council to direct the contractor to complete this work. Public Works Staff & the Parks & Recreation Committee feel that this is a safety issue as the trail currently connects directly into the parking lot. The trail extension will connect at a future time to the existing trail running east and west along the warming house. Although the trail would be installed at a later time, the equipment used to sub-cut & install the base is already at this location so this would be an advantageous time to do the work. Motion was made by Chairperson Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Lindsay to recommend to City Council requesting Dresel Contracting sUHut and install base for a trail along the east side of the parking lot at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park for connecting at a future time to the existing trail running east and west along the warming house. All in favor. Motion passed unanimously.
