<br />General: This policy is intended to regulate the use of City-owned cellulal: phones <br />within reasonable, practical parameters. As the number of available cellular <br />tdephones increases and the efficiencies of cdlulal: tdephone usage become even <br />more apparent, it is incumbent upon the City to establish reasonable guidelines for <br />the use of cellulal: phones. The City of Centerville will benefit by extending the <br />hours essential Employees are available for consultation through the use of cellular <br />phones. <br /> <br />Scope: This policy will apply to all City Employees using or having access to City- <br />owned cellulal: phones. <br /> <br />23.2 Guidelines <br /> <br />Policy: The following guidelines are established for the use of City-owned cellulal: <br />phones: <br /> <br />A) Cellulal: phones are intended to be used to increase the efficiency and <br />effectiveness of the services provided by the City of Centervil1e. As such, <br />each Employee using a cellular phone during the course of his/her workday <br />must determine whether such usage is appropriate under the circumstances <br />exisring at the time of the usage. In making such a determination, <br />Employees must consider the cost of using the cdlular phone in comparison <br />with the cost and practicality oflocaring a customary tdephone service. <br /> <br />B) During work hours personal phone calls will be acceptable in those <br />circumstances where it is necessary to briefly contact someone concerning <br />important matters. Calls of this nature shall be as brief as possible and <br />should be made only when circumstances prevent timdy access to customary <br />tdephone services. <br /> <br />C) During non-work hours City Employees having access to assigned City- <br />owned cellulal: phones may make reasonable personal phone calls during all <br />hours. Employees having 24-hour access to City-owned cdlulal: phones and <br />who also use the phone for personal reasons will reimburse the City for all <br />personal phone calls, to the extent that the calls exceed the maximum <br />allowable air time. <br /> <br />D) City Employees who take home a City-owned phone will agree to be <br />accessible for City business when necessary and practical after regular work <br />hours. <br /> <br />E) Upon approval of the City Administrator, Employees will be allowed to <br />upgrade to a more expensive plan for personal reasons if the Employee <br />agrees to pay the difference in cost between the two plans. <br /> <br />F) All cellulal: phones shall remain the property of the City and shall be returned <br />to the City upon the termination of employment or if the cdlulal: phone is no <br /> <br />45 <br /> <br />I _ <br />
