EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION <br /> <br />25.1 Employee Action Committee <br /> <br />Authority: The City of Centerville promotes lltl environment in which positive <br />working relationships Clltl be formed lltld fostered through social interaction and <br />Employees can be recognized for their contributions. For these purposes, Employees <br />are allowed to form an Employee Action Committee, with a minimum of three (3) and <br />a maximum of five (5) members to be appointed by the City Administrator. Members <br />of the Committee will elect officers and be responsible for structuring by-hws and <br />operatiug rules for the Committee, which will be reviewed and approved by the City <br />Administrator. Committee members are authorized to use up to one (1) hour of work <br />time per month for Committee business. <br /> <br />Employee Recognition and Appreciation: The City Council will designate an <br />amount in its annual budget to be used by the Committee for Employee recognition <br />and appreciation events. The Committee may consider selectiug Employees for awards <br />in areas such as longevity, teamwork, innovation, above and beyond, leadership, <br />exceptional customer service, spirit, etc. Awards will consist of phques or functional <br />items such as clocks or pen/pencil sets and will be of nominal value. Meals served at <br />award ceremonies will be of nominal value and will not include the purchase of <br />alcoholic beverages. <br /> <br />26. NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY <br /> <br />General: The City of Centerville is committed to a policy of non-discrimination with <br />regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, <br />marital status, public assistance status, or disability. <br /> <br />Definition: Discrimination is defined as any overt or covert behavior that excludes <br />access to, admission to, full utilization of, or benefit from any public service because of <br />race, color, creed, religion, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status, <br />veteran status, age, public assistance status, or disability. <br /> <br />Discipline: Employees who participate in disrriminotion of any kind are subject to <br />discipline, up to and including termination. <br /> <br />Policy: In keeping with the City's commi_ent and the requirements of the hw, the <br />City and staff will strive to remove any disrriminotion in the ttea_ent of customers, <br />employment, assignment and promotion of personnel, training programs, services and <br />opportunities offered to citizens and staff, location and use of facilities, and in verbal <br />lltld written communications. <br /> <br />47 <br />
