->

Salary and Benefit Comparison
Metropolitan Cities Population 2,500 to 6,000
Year 2004

Salaries:

This salary survey illustrates the actual salary of the job incumbent at the beginning of
the year 2004. Incumbents are at varying levels of longevity with their respective cities.
No consideration is given for that confounding factor in this survey; however, the survey
should reflect a fairly accurate representation of the market environment.

It appears that Centerville salaries are approximately average as compared to similar size
cities, with the exception of two or three positions. Most notable are the Account
Clerk/Secretary and the Utility Billing Clerk, both being approximately 10-20% below
the average for a similar position in a similar size city. These findings are consistent with
a recent informal, internal pay equity review conducted by City administrative staff. This
survey should serve only as a trigger to Council to further review the affected positions
within the context of the City's adopted pay equity plan.

Following this chart is a detailed spreadsheet illustrating salaries of similar positions in
similar size cities.

I

Weighted Mean Salary SU""'Y
Metro Cities Pnpulation 2,000 to 6,000
Year 2004

40.00

5.00

35.00

30.00

25.00

20.00

15.00

10.00

0.00

City Adm P.W.Director Flnsl'lceDirectQl" C\~Clerk Buildingll'lsf> lJIilityCIef'K PW.Mainl AcctClerkJSac
LlllICenterville _Average I

.~
