<br />9.5 Funeral Leave <br /> <br />General: Paid time off may be granted, up to a maximum of three (3) days, in tbe <br />event a regular Employee suffers a deatb in his or her immediate family, in <br />accordance witb tbe provisions of this Section. Additional time off witbout pay, or <br />sick leave if available and requested in advance, will be granted as may reasonably be <br />required under individual circumstances, subject to the approval of tbe department <br />head. <br /> <br />Immediate Family Defined: Immediate family (for purposes of this Section) is <br />defined as an Employee's parent, step-parent, spouse, child, step-child, foster child, <br />adopted child, brotber, sister, step-brotber, step-sister, grandparent, grandchild, <br />spouse's parents, brotber-in-law, sister-in-law, or member of tbe immediate <br />household. <br /> <br />Pay: The actual amount of time off, and funeral leave approved will be determined <br />by the department head depending on individual circumstances, (such as tbe <br />closeness of tbe relative, arrangements to be made, distance to the funeral, etc.). In <br />tbese situations, Employees will receive tbeir regular pay except tbat Employees will <br />not be paid for regularly scheduled days off. <br /> <br />9.6 Y3J:eDting Leave <br />~::---_ .. . ..... ......_n______________._._.___________..___._ <br /> <br />General: Under Minnesota Statute ~ 181.941, an Employee is eligible to take up to <br />six weeks time off witbout pay in conjunction with tbe birth or adoption of a child. <br />The leave may begin not more tban six weeks after tbe birth or adoption; except <br />that, in the case where tbe child must remain in the hospital longer tban tbe motber, <br />tbe leave may not begin more than six weeks after tbe child leaves tbe hospital. <br /> <br />Eligibility: Employees who work at least half-time and have worked for the City <br />for at least twelve (12) consecutive montbs are eligible for parenting leave. <br /> <br />Healtb Benefits: Insurance coverage will continue to be available to tbe Employee <br />while on parenting leave. The City will continue to pay its share of the coverage as if <br />the Employee were at work. The Employee will be responsible for his/her share. <br /> <br />Use of Personal Leave: Employees are not required to use personal leave during <br />parental leave but may use personal leave at their option for any period of this leave. <br /> <br />Reinstatement: The Employee is entitled to return to work in tbe same or <br />comparable position and at tbe same rate of pay tbe Employee was receiving prior to <br />commencement of the leave. Benefits will continue to accrue as if the Employee <br />was at work. <br /> <br />21 <br />
