<br />9.4 Jury Duty <br /> <br />General: Regular Employees truly be absent with pay when serving jury duty or <br />when subpoenaed as a witness in court or voluntariIy serving as a witness in a case in <br />which the City is a party. <br /> <br />Pay: To receive theit normal wages, the Employee must pay the City the jury duty <br />compensation, minus any mileage or parking reitnbursement. If the jury duty <br />compensation exceeds the regular salary rate, the Employee may keep the difference. <br /> <br />9.5 Funeral Leave <br /> <br />General: Paid time off may be granted, up to a maxitnum of three (3) days, in the <br />event a regular Employee suffers a death in his or her immediate family, in <br />accordance with the provisions of this Section. Additional time off without pay, or <br />sick leave if available and requested in advance, will be granted as truly reasonably be <br />requited under individual citcumstances, subject to the approval of the department <br />head. <br /> <br />Immediate Family Defined: Immediate family (for purposes of this Section) is <br />defined as an Employee's parent, step-parent, spouse, child, step-child, foster child, <br />adopted child, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister, grandparent, grandchild, <br />spouse's parents, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, or member of the immediate <br />household. <br /> <br />Pay: The actual amount of time off, and funeral leave approved will be determined <br />by the department head depending on individual citcumstances, (such as the <br />closeness of the relative, arrangements to be made, distance to the funeral, etc.). In <br />these situations, Employees will receive theit regular pay except that Employees will <br />not be paid for regularly schedul:d :}:Is off. <br /> <br />Parenting Leave r _~_~C ~ <br /> <br />I~ zlLu.- ~ <br /> <br />FtYl L-It <br /> <br />9.6 <br /> <br />General: Under Minnesota Statute ~ 181.941, an Employee is eligible to take up to <br />si:, weeks time off without pay in conjunction with the bitth or adoption of a child. <br />The leave may begin not more than six weeks after the bitth or adoption; except <br />that, in the case where the child must remain in the hospital longer than the mother, <br />the leave may not begin more than six weeks after the child leaves the hospital. <br /> <br />Eligibility: Employees who work at least half-time and have worked for the City <br />for at least twelve (12) consecutive months are eligible for parenting leave. <br /> <br />Health Benefits: Insurance coverage will continue to be available to the Employee <br />while on parenting leave. The City will continue to pay its share of the coverage as if <br />the Employee were at work. The Employee will be responsible for his/her share. <br /> <br />21 <br />
