<br />. l <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />City of CenteIville <br />April 28, 2004 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Thill for authorization to purchase walkie talkies for use at the parade and for other City <br />uses. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that at the time this purchase was discussed it was not <br />this much money and she had asked that they be left at public works for use by the City <br />in the event of a disaster or other City event. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked if there was money disaster funds or grants for purchasing <br />this type of thing. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked if they need that many radios. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated he helped rent radios four years ago and he would be interested <br />in knowing what the rental cost would be. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked if the City can contribute some funds toward <br />the purchase as a donation to the Lions. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft recommended the City retain ownership of them and make them <br />available for use by the public. <br /> <br />Mr. Wilharber, as Treasurer for the Lions Club, indicated that the cost to rent 12 radios <br />last year was $156.00. <br /> <br />Council determined that it would be more cost effective to continue to rent the radios. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee thanked Mr. Thill for the many.years of successful parade planning. <br /> <br />2. Centerville Lion's R~uest to Move the Storage Garage from Chauncey Barrett <br />Gardens to 7087 - 20 Avenue and the Use of Same <br /> <br />Mr. Tom Wilharber, on behalf of the Lions, addressed Council and asked for <br />authorization to move the garage at Chauncey Barrett and make improvements to it <br />including a new roof and painting. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee asked if it would be legal to put another organizations building on <br />City property. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft suggested that the City maintain ownership of the building and the <br />Lions would move it and the City rent it to the Lions for a nominal fee or for the cost of <br />the improvements to the building. <br /> <br />Mr. Wilharber indicated the Lions would be agreeable to that. <br /> <br />Page 7 of 12 <br /> <br />1_________________ u. <br />
