City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />May 27, 2009 <br />Mayor Capra stated that the City Council may need a Work Session to discuss how <br />to balance the budget. <br />Councilmember Lee suggested looking at selling some City property. <br />Mayor Capra stated that they knew the biggest foreseeable problem would be 2010. <br />She stated that they may need to look at the Police and Fire District areas, which <br />are the largest part of the City's budget. <br />Mayor Capra suggested having a Budget Workshop after each City Council <br />Meeting in July. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that he would not be able to attend the City Council <br />Meeting on July 8. <br />b. Temporary/Seasonal Staffing (Update <br />City Administrator Larson discussed the following temporary/seasonal staff: <br />i. Administrative/Parks Maintenance (Lindsey Cegla) -Has worked <br />for the City in the past) <br />ii. Parks Maintenance (Lori Waldron) <br />iii. 2009 Street Project (Lead Inspector Greg Burmeister & Inspector <br />Joel McPherson) <br />iv. Public Works (Mitch Barott & Ryan Alberg) (Summer seasonal staff <br />- Have worked for the City in the past) <br />c. Indian Burial Mound <br />City Administrator Larson stated that he and Mayor Capra had discussed the Indian <br />burial mound and stated that they could submit a Grant application to preserve it. <br />The County Parks were also very interested, and they may be willing to take the <br />lead in applying for the Grant application. The Grant would be 80% of the cost, <br />and local dollars would be relatively low. He added that one possible option is that <br />this could be an attractive rest stop with an informational marker. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to authorize Support for grant money to preserve the Indian Burial <br />Mound. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />2. Cable Commission (Capra/LJpdate~ <br />Mayor Capra reported that the City of Columbia Heights is interested in contracting with <br />Comcast to provide their public access service. The City of Columbia Heights has the <br />same attorney as the Cable Commission, which could present a conflict of interest. Mayor <br />Capra stated that her suggestion would be that the City of Columbia Heights obtained <br />another attorney. <br />Page 10 of 11 <br />
