Ms Sivarajah~
Thank you for accepting our invitation to be the official Festival of
the Lakes 8K starter. This is a first time event for all of us - so we
will be learning as we go forward. That being the case, we are open for
any suggestions.

We will have a portable loud speaker system set up at the race start
line on Meadow Lane about 100 yards east of Centerville RD. Once the
race is started, we will rapidly move the speaker system to the finish
line near the hockey rink in LaMotte Park (about a block away.)

I have not discussed final plans with Mayor Capra or Councilman Lee.
As our city elected officials who have made this happen, they may elect
to welcome the runners and walkers to Centerville. But as a minimum we
will follow this sequence.

There are announcements I will need to make regarding the course and
traffic closures. Also, I want to thank our sponsors and ensure all the
runners know who they are.

If the Mayor wants to say a few words, I will introduce her and in turn
she will introduce you.

You then will have an opportunity to say a few words to the
participants. Your remarks need to be short - but opportunities like
this are a good way for the citizens to meet their elected officials in
a non-political environment.

For the start we will have an air-powered horn. We will use the old
"Runners to your marks - Runners Ready - GO (Horn blast). It may sound
a bit silly but it gives everyone due notice including our timer.

We well then move to the finish line and set up. I expect the fastest
runners to do this 5 mile course in about 25 minutes. You are welcome
to participate in announcing the fastest runners, in the awards program
(about 9:30 or 10:00) and I understand that you are already in the
parade.

Facts you may want to use: I will have a card or notes on this on race
day:
1. This is the first of what we hope will be a continuing series of
annual runs or walks. They will always be associated with Fete des Lacs
celebration 2. I will compile the race demographics. Oldest,
youngest, total number of men and women etc.
3. Our goals are:
a. to create another Fete des Lac community event that draws us
together as a community
b. to introduce new users and to welcome consistent users of our
beautiful parks and trails
c. to provide a promotion opportunity to the businesses in the
Centerville Economic Development Authority (EDA) 4. Any proceeds that
may be generated will go to improve Centerville Parks and Trails. Our
Sponsors are paying most of the expenses. The City Council did give us
a budget to work with, which I hope to pay back after the event is
over.

Our sponsors are:
