June 25, 2009 An Outline of Procedures and Materials Needed to Enhance and Maintain Native Vegetation in the Wetland Replacement and Upland ButTer Areas at the Centerville Industrial Park Mitigation Site in Centerville, MN Project Size: Wetland Mitigation Area: 20,000 square reet or 0.46 acres Upland Buffer Area: approximately 11,000 square reet or 0.25 acres (approximate 5000 sq ft area to be reseeded) A. Project overview: L The Wetland Mitigation Areas have some acceptable native vegetation, but they will require reseeding in some areas and management throughout to control reed canary grass. 2. The entire upland buffer area will be treated with herbicide to remove nonnative and invasive vegetation, and mowing or controlled burning will be conducted to remove excess biomass. After a second herbicide spray, the treated areas will be harrowed as needed and seeded with BWSR US seed mix and mulched with straw for erosion control. 3. Selected portions of the Wetland Mitigation Area will be treated with herbicide, mowed or burned, raked or harrowed and seeded with BWSR W2. Areas with acceptable native vegetation will not be sprayed. 4. A maintenance outline and estimate is included in this proposal which includes invasive species management in the buffer and wetland restoration areas for three seasons beyond 2009. 5. PRI seed mixes can be used as a substitute or enhancement for the BWSR mIxes. The recommended mixes and seeding rates are provided in this plan. B. Site Preparation: I. In areas where invasive or weedy vegetation predominates, apply Rodeo@ and/or Garlon 3A @herbicides as per manufacturer's directions to actively growing vegetation. Allow a minimum of 15 days before disturbing the vegetation with other procedures, 2. Remove dead vegetation using a controlled burn or by mowing. I 5tj
