<br />I <br /> <br />.1 <br /> <br />\ . <br /> <br /> <br />GFOA MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION <br /> <br />Membership in the GFOA is open to everyone whose career., studies or interests involve government financial management. <br />GFOA members are a diverse group of individuals, from students and entry-level employees to senior man~gers, who work for: <br /> <br />e Cities, towns and other municipalities of all sizes, <br /> <br />&I County governments, <br /> <br />I School districts, special districts and retirement systems, <br /> <br />e States and provinces, <br /> <br />I Schools of public affairs and administration, <br /> <br />lIJ Libraries, <br /> <br />III Federal agencies, and <br /> <br />II Accounting and law firms, investment banks, financial institutions, and consulting firms. <br /> <br />GFOA Membership Categories <br /> <br />VOTING <br />iii Active Member. Practicing public finance professional from a governmental unit. <br />II Additional Active Member. Same as active member, but designates an additional person from a member governmental unit. <br /> <br />NONVOTING <br />fill Associate. Interested in public finance, but employed in the private sector. <br />fI Educational. Full-time student or full-time educator from a college or university. <br />IDlnactive Retired. Retired former active member. <br /> <br />GFOA GOVERNANCE <br />The GFOA is governed by an l8-member Executive Board elected by the active members. The Executive Board establishes <br />policies and direction for the association. In addition, seven standing committees, comprised of 25 GFOA members, study issues <br />and recommend policy positions to the Executive Board., These committees are: <br /> <br />II Committee on Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting, <br /> <br />I Committee on Canadian Issues, <br /> <br />II Committee on Cash Management, <br /> <br />II Committee on Economic Development and Capital Planning, <br /> <br />I Committee on Governmental Budgeting and Fiscal Policy, <br /> <br />II Committee on Governmental Debt Management. <br /> <br />II Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration. <br /> <br />Policies adopted by the Executive Board are voted on by active members of the association at the business meeting held each <br />year during the annual conference. <br /> <br />JjJ~ <br />
