Mr. Drilling concurred. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that the City was in transition and Mayor <br />Swedberg would like to see more of the details ironed out at the commission/committee <br />levels. <br /> <br />Mr. Eric Bowman, 7130 Shad Avenue, stated that he was representing his neighbor, Mr. <br />Jerry Engler who was unable to attend and questioned if the berm would go north along <br />the short job on the property. Mr. Drilling stated that he did not anticipate continuing the <br />berm north. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that the Bowmans were present at the previous <br />Planning and Zoning Commission Public Hearing regarding the proposed strip mall <br />where it was requested that the screen be at a ten (l0) foot level to block the view of the <br />residents on Shad Avenue. <br /> <br />Mr. Bowman stated that Mr. Engler desired to have the berm run north to the edge of the <br />property line. Mr. Drilling said he would consider Mr. Engler's request; however, he <br />must comply with the City's drainage requirements. Mr. Drilling explained that drainage <br />plans require the City Engineer's recommendations. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that drainage considerations and <br />recommendations would be made by the City Engineer, not the developer or residents. <br /> <br />Mr. Bowman clarified that there would not be a driveway on Shad Avenue and thanked <br />Mr. Drilling. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if Shad Avenue were closed off how would the affected property <br />owners react. Mr. Bowman stated that it would depend on where it was closed off. <br />Mayor Swedberg suggested closing it off at County Road 14. Mr. Bowman stated that he <br />felt it was a good idea but said the City would need to discuss same with the affected <br />property owner on the Comer of Shad Avenue. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra questioned how residents would feel if the City dead-ended <br />Peterson Trail. Mrs. Bowman stated the residents on Shad Avenue were concerned about <br />an entrance onto Shad Avenue due to increased traffic. Council Member Capra also <br />expressed concern for the anticipated increase in traffic levels due to the addition of <br />another shopping mall and its location to the existing shopping mall. <br /> <br />Mr. James Bigelow, 7143 Shad Avenue, stated he wanted to make sure Council knew <br />that not all residents in Centerville are in favor of more commercial areas in the City. <br />There are a lot of individuals who moved here knowing it was a bedroom community and <br />expected that taxes would be higher. Mr. Bigelow expressed concern for closing <br />Peterson Trail because that would increase the traffic on Shad A venue. Peterson Trail is <br />a main north/south traffic artery and closing it would put a lot more traffic on other <br />streets.
